Giovanni Faedda

Giovanni is a Sardinian organist who trained at the Cagliari Conservatory with Professor Livia Sandra Frau and furthered his studies in Weimar, Germany, with Professor Martin Sturm. His concert career has seen him perform on major national and international stages. He is currently the artistic director of the Polifonica Asseminese, with whom he has been organising the Resounding Breath International Festival for two years, which has brought leading European organists and established international ensembles to Sardinia. He is a member of M’ANAM.

The first time I met Michael and Lucy was during a masterclass organised by the Cagliari Conservatory, I was impressed by Michael’s compositions and their exploration of technique that had a resonance with my own ideas.

Then a rare and unique opportunity presented itself to me: Michael asked me to join M’ANAM for a concert in Bologna. This experience marked a new beginning for me. I met a fantastic group of guys. The songs and stories M’ANAM performed spoke of nature and diverse traditions. Soon after I joined ANÚNA, travelling with them last December on tour through the Netherlands.

There I experienced even more of a sense of community, a sense of belonging to a group that is more than just an ensemble. The sound manages to be a perfect blend of energy and a search for the ethereal. I've always had a strong weakness for the Christmas season, and perhaps no one can convey the warmth one seeks during this magical time of year like ANÚNA.

This new perspective has challenged me greatly and has also led me to incorporate this imprint into my daily life, which is increasingly embraced with strong passion.

Singing with M'ANAM and ANÚNA, for me, means breathing with singers who are pursuing the same goal: to convey emotions, to tell stories, and to leave something eternal.
